What is a chiffonade? “chiffon” is French for “rag”. It is when you cut greens - typically basil - into rag-like strips. I think it’s best used to garnish a dish to add color or freshness to that dish. And here’s how you do it!
- Stack the leaves together
- Roll the leaves together tightly lengthwise.
- Using a very sharp knife, slice the leaves into thin strips.
- Separate the shreds with your fingers
